Terms of service
ChatDomain helps you discover, compare, and evaluate domain names. It does not sell or register domains itself. These terms describe what the service does, what it does not do, and the rules for using it.
Who we are
"ChatDomain," "we," or "us" refers to the operators of the website at chatdomain.ai, including its web app, public API, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) endpoint. "You" refers to the person or entity using the service.
By accessing or using the service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
What the service does
ChatDomain provides:
- AI-assisted domain name generation and search across .com, .ai, .io, and other TLDs.
- Availability lookups sourced from public WHOIS/RDAP and upstream registry/registrar APIs.
- Price comparison across third-party registrars (for example GoDaddy, Netim, Sedo, Vercel, and others).
- A chat interface, a watchlist, public and authenticated REST endpoints, and an MCP server.
Accounts
Some features require an account. You must provide accurate information and keep your credentials confidential. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account. You must be at least 16 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher.
You may delete your account at any time from the user settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the service, or put other users at risk.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service to register, squat on, or traffic in domains that infringe trademarks, impersonate a brand, or violate applicable law.
- Submit queries designed to harass, deceive, or defame a person or organization, or to generate names intended for phishing, malware distribution, or fraud.
- Circumvent rate limits, scrape the interface, or attempt to extract our pricing data in bulk without written permission. Programmatic access must go through the public API or MCP endpoint with appropriate credentials.
- Reverse engineer, probe for vulnerabilities, or interfere with the service or its underlying infrastructure.
- Use the service to build a product that directly competes with ChatDomain using our own data.
API and MCP usage
The API at api.chatdomain.ai and the MCP endpoint at chatdomain.ai/mcp are provided for good-faith integrations. Reasonable rate limits apply and may change. We may require authentication for endpoints that today are unauthenticated, and we may deprecate endpoints with reasonable notice.
You are responsible for the applications and agents you build on top of the API. If an agent you operate issues abusive traffic, we may restrict access for the underlying account or IP range.
Pricing and availability data
Availability, premium listings, and registrar prices are pulled from upstream sources and cached for performance. Data can be stale, incomplete, or incorrect. Registrars may change prices, add fees, or decline to sell a specific domain without notice. Always confirm the final price and availability on the registrar before you purchase.
We do not guarantee that a domain shown as available will remain available even for a few minutes. We are not liable for losses that result from relying on availability or price information displayed in the service.
AI-generated suggestions
Name ideas, branding angles, and chat responses are generated by large language models and are provided as inspiration, not as legal, trademark, or business advice. You are solely responsible for evaluating whether a suggested name is appropriate for your use, does not infringe third-party rights, and complies with the laws of the jurisdictions where you operate.
Your content
You retain all rights to the prompts, watchlists, notes, and other content you submit. You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, process, and display that content solely to operate and improve the service for you. We do not sell your prompts or use them to train third-party models.
You must have the right to submit any content you provide. Do not upload personal data about other people unless you have a lawful basis to do so.
Our intellectual property
The ChatDomain name, wordmark, site design, code, and aggregated comparison data are owned by us or our licensors. Except for the rights explicitly granted in these Terms, nothing here transfers any intellectual property to you. Open-source components are covered by their own licenses.
Fees and paid features
Core search and availability checks are free. Some features — for example higher API quotas, premium watchlists, or brokered inquiries — may be paid. Fees, billing cycles, and cancellation terms for paid features are shown at checkout and are incorporated into these Terms.
Fees paid for third-party domain registrations are not collected by us and are subject to the registrar's own refund policy.
Third-party services
The service integrates with third parties such as authentication providers, database hosts, AI model providers, and domain registrars. Your use of those integrations is also subject to their terms. We are not responsible for third-party services, and we do not control whether a registrar completes a purchase or at what final price.
Termination
You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms, for security reasons, or if operating the service becomes impractical. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) will survive.
Disclaimers
The service is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability. We do not warrant that any domain will remain available, that any price shown is current, or that any AI-generated suggestion is suitable for your use case.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ChatDomain and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenues, goodwill, or data, arising from or related to the service. Our aggregate liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 50.
Indemnity
You agree to defend and indemnify ChatDomain from third-party claims arising out of your use of the service, your content, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
Changes to the service and these Terms
We may change, suspend, or discontinue parts of the service at any time. We may update these Terms when the service changes or for legal reasons. Material changes will be signaled by updating the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, by a notice in the app. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which ChatDomain is operated, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. The courts of that jurisdiction have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes that cannot be resolved informally, subject to any mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
